This year, May 4th 2014, Rockaway Waterfront Alliance will host a walking tour in the Rockaway community, exploring several amazing spaces in this beautiful, yet highly underappreciated beach community.

Our Walking Tour will be guided by Renae Diggs local resident, student of Urban Design, Urban Practitioner and Intern at Rockaway Waterfront Alliance.

The tour will depart from Firehouse 59, head over to the bay side of the peninsula on a hike through the Edgemere Landfill, visit the Arverne East Development site, stroll down the famous Rockaway Boardwalk and conclude at Firehouse 59.

The goal of this tour is to engage local residents through exploration of their urban environment, we welcome all urban enthusiasts to learn more about the Rockaways and various initiatives aimed at the improvement of one of New York's historically rich yet understated neighborhoods.
