MAS Tour of the Rockaways

TIME: Sunday January 11th, 12 noon-4pm
LOCATION: Depart Firehouse 59/  5803 Rockaway Beach Blvd @ Beach 59th St

The January 11th tour of the Rockaway shoreline was well attended and a wonderful opportunity for learning.

Renowned scientist Klaus Jacob and landscape architect Walter Meyer came to share their knowledge of the conditions that pose risks for development in the Rockaways and other coastal communities.

The group traveled to various sites that highlighted the natural ecology of the Rockaways and learned more about those areas that were protected with natural vegetation and protective buffers.

It was an exciting day of learning and well worth the trip.
