Resiliency Speakers Series/Climate Forum: Beat the Heat

TIME: Wednesday, May 24th, 6:30 - 8:30 PM
LOCATION: Meet at RISE, 58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd (B59th St)

Summer means outdoor fun. Summer also means heat waves, which can be dangerous and deadly. Heat is one of the leading weather-related killers in the U.S. In New York City, more than 80% of heat stroke deaths involved victims who were exposed to heat in homes without air conditioning.

As part of its Resiliency Speaker Series, join Rockaway Waterfront Alliance and the Science and Resiliency Institute at Jamaica Bay to learn about heat waves, how hot they can get in New York City, how heat affects your body, and how you can prepare yourself for extreme heat situations.

This is a NY Rising Community Center service provided in partnership with the Governors Office of Storm Recovery.
