Rockaway Community Health Plan - Workshop IITIME: Thursday, December 8th, 5 PM- 7:30 PM (Rescheduled) Rockaway Waterfront Alliance (RWA) is hosting a collaborative process with local residents, community members and stakeholders at Rockaway Institute for a Sustainable Environment (RISE) to develop an action plan for improving the health and wellbeing of the Far Rockaway, Arverne and Edgemere communities. We invite community members to engage in this vital community planning process. Register below to rsvp for this community health planning workshop. BACKGROUND Phase I identified priority issues in Far Rockaway, Arverne and Edgemere including unmet mental health needs, unmet medical needs, violence, baby-friendly hospitals, high school graduation rates, controlled high blood pressure, sugary drinks and smoking. The first workshop in this engagement process, participants established unmet mental health needs as the main priority for the Rockaway community, based on the fact that it seemed to be the one underlying issue that connected to all the health issues. Join us on November 17th, to establish an action plan for addressing unmet mental health needs in the Rockaway community. Healthy local food and refreshments will be served for participants. Advanced registration is recommended. The Rockaway Community Health Action Plan/TCNY Planning Partner grants were made possible through the generous support of the Population Health Improvement Program, established by the New York State Department of Health. |
