TIME: Saturday, June 4th, 7:30 pm (7:58 horseshoe crabs emerge)
LOCATION: East Rockaway Inlet/Beach 9th St

Each May and June, the shores of the Rockaways play host to thousands of spawning horseshoe crabs.  In this time frame, on 12 nights coinciding with the new and full moon phases, the yearly horseshoe crab survey is conducted.  All systematic counts are taken in or near darkness at high tides along the beaches of Rockaway and Jamaica Bay.
