Jane Jacobs Walking Tour and Community Stewardship Event

TIME: Sunday, May 15th 11 AM-1 PM

LOCATION: Beach 25th Street and the Beach Boardwalk

This year marks the 100 year anniversary of the birth of urban activist and urban renewal opponent Jane Jacobs. To celebrate this anniversary, the Municipal Arts Society is coordinating events that embody Jacobs's legacy by getting people outside and exploring New York City with one another.

Join Rockaway Waterfront Alliance & the Surfrider Foundation for a community stewardship clean up followed by a walking tour of the historical beachside bungalows.

We will meet at Beach 25th St and the beach boardwalk at 11AM, where we will do a shoreline clean up. At 12:30 we will depart for a neighborhood walk to meet local neighbors and explore one of the last bungalow communities still in existence in New York City.

Adults and children alike are welcome to participate. Registration is not required but students looking to do community service hours for this event are encouraged to bring paperwork from their schools to get credit for their hours.
