is a new program RWA is hosting to use Wi-Fi technology to connect businesses and community members to a vital network that can be used daily and during times of emergency.
In 2016, RWA kicked off the Rockspot Wi-Fi Stewards program to train high school students to develop a community wifi network and marketing materials to support local businesses and create opportunities for economic growth in the Rockaways.
RWA offers job training and employment to local youth to host Rockaway's first free community Wi-Fi network. The network will help to boost foot traffic, promote safety, and connect our community on a daily basis as well as in times of emergency.
The goal of Rockspot Wi-Fi is to support a strong local economy by giving local residents, businesses, and visitors access to important neighborhood news, social media, blogs, business coupons, job opportunities, and a community event calendar for destinations-of-interest.
RWA is presently setting up the Wi-Fi network with local businesses, places of worship and community-based organizations and will launch the Wi-Fi stewards program in January 2017.

In 2007, Jadel participated in her first RWA program as a 7th grader at PS43. Through high school she has been a valuable contributor to our ongoing efforts and today she continues to work with us as a practicing intern while she attends college. Hear more about Jadel's story.
