RISE Center

A community hub for emerging artists and scientists alike, to connect with local residents and visitors to the Rockaways through programming and public art exhibitions

In 2016, RISE officially completed renovation of the former FDNY Company 265 Firehouse, located at Beach 59th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard,  as a central hub for community programs and collaboration focused on environmental concerns in the region, which affect the environmental, economic, physical health, and well-being of the Rockaway community.

This marked a big step forward for the Rockaway community. Today RISE partners with community-based organizations and local businesses to host a variety of programs and activities free to the public.

The "Great Hall" gallery on the main floor has space for visual arts exhibitions and space for visiting planners, scientists, and experts to lead community-led projects, lectures, and programs for youth and the local community.

The RISE Center has become a Rockaway destination, focused on raising awareness of its natural beauty and bringing opportunities for economic development and vibrancy to the Rockaway peninsula.
